This is a small but beautiful island. It's a headache to drive/walk to the best beacheds but they are really beautiful. Mahon is a great little village with the world's 2nd largest natural port (after Vancouver?). Even better is Fornells about 45 minutes away... one could easily buy a little island hut here.
Some of the best food experiences in the world are single item specialties and that is the case of Menorca. The national dish is a lobster stew called Caldereta and the best place to try it is in Fornells at a restaurant called Espla with the water lapping up near your feet. This dish is a real champion meeting or beating Paella's and Boullabiasses from the world over.
