St Martin / Antigua

St Martin (3/5) scores points for good restaurants, while Antigua scores points for great beaches. St Martin is worth visiting for the great La Samanna resort (4/5) which is of the check in and never leave variety. On Antigua, Jumby Bay (3/5) has better rooms and better food but is a bit of a sprawl. No golf of note on either diving. St Martin dive is Creole Pt (1/5) while Antigua has sunken rock (3/5). Best advice is to go to St Barts (5/5)!to stay and scuba on SABA (5/5)!

St Barts Rules

St Barts is an island paradise in the Carribean that blows Hawaii away. It is perfect. With the postcard harbour of Gustavia (like Laheina in Maui) and Nikki's Beach on St Jean where the blow out hotel Eden Roc (5/5) sits. I claim this to be the greatest island on earth. Wilkie says Bora Bora is better so I am booking that immediately.

Pacific Northwest and Redwoods

Woah...3 stars. Fly to Vancouver and take a boat to Vancouver Island staying at the Empress Hotel in Victoria. Then take a boat down to Seattle and have dinner at Wild Ginger (Dungeness crab please). From there drive south to Crater Lake and stay at the Lodge on the edge of the lake in July or August (the most beautiful place on earth?).

Ok..then drive southwest to the coast and drive through the northern redwood forest. Before getting to the coast is the ranger station and they will send you to the BEST part called Stout Grove and then you drive down a ten mile gravel rd to the coast...awesome.

Next, drive down to Eureka and spend the night at the "Carter" a cute hotel with a great wine list and quirky restaurant and get ready for the south forest.

The north forest is natural while the south forest is full of silly treehouses, drive thru trees and bigfoot stopovers (all dumb)...ok..drive through the tree in Leggett if you must. The best two things are founders grove which is overwhelming and Roosevelt forest where Giant tree and Flat iron tree are. A must.
